A Senior Dog in Need of Medical Help: Please Help Ramos
Poor Ramos is around 10 years old, a hunting dog who was found abandoned in the mountains. He can no longer hunt and, basically, he cannot walk properly, which means that he was considered useless and left to fend for himself.
During his veterinary examination, he was diagnosed with patellar luxation. After years of being unable to use his hind legs properly, he has compensated by putting much of his weight on his front legs. As a result, his front legs have become rounded and he has been in a lot of pain for quite a while.
But his legs are only part of Ramos's story.
He has severe otitis, with extensive scarring and material deep inside the ear canal that could not be removed even under sedation. He may need surgery, although given his age and overall condition, the risks will need to be carefully considered.
Many of his teeth have already had to be removed, and the remaining teeth also need cleaning.
And, as if all of this wasn't enough, Ramos has leishmaniasis. He has already completed a course of Milteforan, thankfully with the help of a sponsor who covered the cost.
So far, Ramos's veterinary bills have reached €700.
WHAT RAMOS NEEDS NOW
Ramos is a senior dog who has spent his life being neglected. Now he needs ongoing care, comfort and, most importantly, to know that someone finally cares about him.
His monthly needs include:
Librela injections: €80/month — to help control his chronic pain
Special veterinary kidney-support food: €105/month
Kidney function tests: €25/month
