We were raising funds to help cover May’s veterinary bills and give him every possible chance to recover.

May’s story was one of the most heartbreaking we have ever encountered.

After being hit by a car, the people who had been looking for him on Facebook removed their post as soon as they learned he needed urgent surgery. In a brief exchange of messages, they claimed he was just a stray dog they had been feeding, or perhaps it was not even him.

According to the veterinary report, 11-year-old May arrived at the clinic after a significant delay following a suspected road traffic accident. He was in severe pain and had already lost deep pain perception in his hind limbs, indicating a devastating spinal cord injury.

May underwent two major surgeries and received the best veterinary care possible. Despite everyone's efforts, the damage was too severe for him to ever walk again. He was later transferred to MoonAcre Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Centre, where he was surrounded by love, comfort, and dedicated care. He smiled, adored people, and cherished his soft toys. For the first time in a long time, he was truly cared for.

Sadly, May later developed a severe infection at the fracture site. Despite intensive treatment, his condition continued to deteriorate, and he was suffering. On 17 June, the heartbreaking decision was made to let him go peacefully, sparing him any further pain.

We are devastated by this loss, but we are grateful that May's final weeks were filled with kindness, warmth, and dignity rather than loneliness and neglect.
